Partner Institutions

Partner institutions are minority serving institutions where the administration has identified bioinformatics as being a part of the strategic growth of the University, where department chairs are willing to provide release time, and where faculty are excited about the research and teaching possibilities.

The program has funding to assist two partner minority serving institutions per year to help establish academic programs in bioinformatics on the local campus. Financially, the program will provide assistance for a local on-campus liaison to have the release time necessary to establish the local coursework. The PSC will assist in team-teaching at least one course with local faculty, present at least two seminars to the partner institution, and will work with the institution to establish a degree or certificate program in bioinformatics.
